Breeder Recognition Scheme
The British Cane Corso Society (BCCS) Breeder Recognition Scheme identifies and supports ethical Cane Corso breeders in the UK who meet established health, welfare and breeding standards. This scheme encourages responsible canine breeding and ensures quality for owners and puppies alike.
The British Cane Corso Society welcomes breeders of all experience levels — from first litters to established kennels.
Our mission is simple:
Raise the standard of Cane Corso breeding in the UK by supporting breeders rather than excluding them.
To do this, the Society operates a tiered Breeder Recognition Scheme.
This recognises commitment to ethical practices, health testing and owner support — while giving breeders a clear pathway to develop.

Breeder recognition Tiers
The breeder recognition scheme is made up of four tiers:
Entry, Foundation, Responsible and Prestige
Why four Tiers?
Because the Cane Corso community needs:
-
More education, fewer barriers
-
Better litters, not fewer breeders
-
A simple ladder of continuous improvement
Standard membership is not a judgement — it is the beginning.
The British Cane Corso Society believes the breeders who grow with the breed should be the breeders the public find first.

Entry
For entry level breeders at the beginning of their journey or working toward higher standards and have a BCCS registered parent dog.
The BCCS encourages consistent development, and entry breeders should seek to progress to the higher tiers.

foundation
For foundation level breeders that have demonstrated to the BCCS they are a quality breeder, meeting the following standards:
-
Minimum health testing requirements, i.e. hips, elbows and DRSA
-
BCCS registered parent dogs
-
All puppies are sold on contract

responsible
For responsible level breeders that meet the BCCS requirement for foundational breeders, with some qualities of the Prestige tier but not all:
-
Minimum health testing requirements, i.e. hips, elbows and DRSA.
-
BCCS registered parent dogs
-
All puppies are sold on contracts
-
DNA testing or extended genetic testing
-
A clear plan for raising and socialising litters

prestige
For prestige level breeders that have demonstrated to the BCCS they are a high quality breeder with regards to welfare and preservation breeding practices:
-
A thorough health testing panel above the minimum standard
-
Clear documented breeding plans that aim for low COI, compatible bloodlines, and continuous breed improvement
-
Proven parent dogs
-
All puppies sold on contracts
-
Raising puppies using proven puppy raising protocol, e.g., ENS, ESI, Puppy Culture, etc.
