Celebrating a Successful CCBC UK Show in Doncaster

The British Cane Corso Society would like to congratulate the Cane Corso Breed Club UK (CCBC UK) following its successful show at the National Horseracing College in Doncaster on Sunday 13 September.

The event brought Cane Corsos, handlers, breeders, owners and supporters together for a day dedicated to the breed, with the show ring naturally providing the main focus. For those exhibiting, a dog show represents far more than the relatively short period spent inside the ring. Behind every entry are the hours spent raising, training, handling and preparing a dog, and simply stepping into the ring and presenting that dog deserves recognition.

A Day for the Cane Corso Community

Breed events also provide something that is increasingly valuable in a community that conducts so much of its conversation online: an opportunity to actually meet. Social media allows Cane Corso owners and breeders from across the country to communicate every day, but meeting face-to-face creates a very different environment.

Shows provide an opportunity to see dogs in person, talk about the breed, meet people we may previously have known only through a screen and spend time among others who share the same interest.

That community element matters. The day at Doncaster wasn't about BCCS. It was a CCBC UK event, organised by their team and supported by the people who chose to attend, exhibit and contribute to it.

We think it is important to recognise positive work wherever it takes place within the Cane Corso community.

Congratulations to Everyone Who Took Part

BCCS would like to congratulate all of the class winners and those who received recognition during the show. But our congratulations extend beyond those who left the ring with a rosette or trophy.

Every exhibitor who entered their dog contributed to the event. So did the organisers, volunteers, judge, stallholders, photographers, supporters and everyone else whose work helped make the day possible.

Events don't happen by themselves, and anyone who has been involved in organising one will understand just how much work can take place before the first dog ever enters the ring. The CCBC UK website describes its wider work as being centred around preservation and protection of the Cane Corso, education, responsible breeding and informed ownership.

Those are areas in which different organisations within the Cane Corso community can have considerable common ground.

Supporting Positive Work Within the Breed

The UK Cane Corso community is bigger than any single organisation. BCCS has its own objectives, projects and approach, but supporting the future of the breed also means recognising when other organisations, clubs and individuals are putting their time and effort into creating something positive.

Healthy organisations do not need to pretend that good work happening elsewhere doesn't exist. Where an event gets people together, encourages responsible participation, creates opportunities for people to learn and places the Cane Corso at the centre of the day for the right reasons, we are happy to acknowledge it.

That spirit of cooperation and mutual respect can only strengthen the wider community around the breed.
